David says to Solomon in today’s first reading that if Solomon keeps the mandate of the Lord and observes the Lord’s statues, commands, ordinances, and decrees, then Solomon will succeed in whatever he does and the throne of Israel will remain secure. The same is true for us: if we follow the will of God and act with uprightness, things will go well for us. Of course, they may not go as we expect, that is to say that we may not receive money or power or that miracle we are praying for. But they will go well. God will be with us, our families will remain strong, and we will be given the deep peace and inner joy that God desires for each of us in every situation in life.

David le dice a Salomón en la primera lectura de hoy que si Salomón cumpla los mandamientos del Señor y observa sus preceptos, órdenes, decretos e instrucciones, entonces Salomón triunfará en todo lo que haga y el trono de Israel permanecerá asegurado. Lo mismo es cierto para nosotros: si seguimos la voluntad de Dios y actuamos con repudio, las cosas nos van a ir bien. Por supuesto, puede que no salgan como esperamos, es decir que no podemos recibir dinero o poder o ese milagro por el que estamos orando. Pero van a ir bien. Dios estará con nosotros, nuestras familias seguirán siendo fuertes, y se nos dará la paz profunda y el gozo interior que Dios desea para cada uno de nosotros en cada situación en la vida.
