New Regional Director of Liturgy and Music

I am excited to announce that we have hired Dr. Frederick B. Mabalot (current Director of Liturgy and Music at Assumption) as our Regional Director of Liturgy and Music.

Right now, all questions about liturgy and music (including calendar, policies, planning, recommendations) go to me. That became a huge problem last Lent and Easter, and every staff member involved in Lent/Easter planning knew we needed some extra help. Thankfully, Dr. Mabalot has been doing this job for Assumption for almost a decade, and he was willing to expand his expertise to the whole county.

We did have to determine which of his current tasks could be moved to local Assumption staff to make room for his increased responsibilities. One of the main changes is that we are going to be transitioning Assumption’s Spanish Mass to a volunteer choir, similar to how things are run at St. Joseph, Lynden. Dr. Mabalot will maintain his duties as Director of Music for Assumption’s English Masses. Dr. Mabalot will also be putting together an all-comers Whatcom Catholic choir for major parish events.

My hope is that our musicians, location managers, and liturgical leads will now have they support they need to thrive, and that our worship of Almighty God will continue to bring Him ever increasing glory.

Fr. Tyler’s Talks

Thank you to a Sacred Heart parishioner for recording Fr. Tyler’s Saturday night talks on Catholic theology. These are not professional recordings, so please excuse different shuffling sounds and the like. But it is really nice to be able to share these talks, as I have heard very positive feedback about them.
