Canceling Daily Masses
At present, we only have one retired priest living in Whatcom County who is able to cover Masses when our assigned priests are on vacation or otherwise unavailable. Fr. Albie Grasher is very generous with his time, but when he is not available, our nearest fill-in priests are in Snohomish or King County.

Because it is such a hike, I am not planning to use outside coverage to cover our daily Masses when Fr. Albie is not available. In some cases, we can cover these Masses ourselves, as I did this week by saying the 9:00 am Thursday Mass at Sacred Heart before doing my office hours there and heading to the 6:00 pm at Lummi. In some cases, I will just cancel the Mass and communicate accordingly.

In general, I will always try to make sure daily Mass is available somewhere in the county each day, and is most accessible for the most number of people. I will also try to spread the cancellations out, so that no one community feels the effect too strongly.

I am telling you this now because I learned recently there are two weeks in October when one of our priests is out of town and so is Fr. Albie. We will announce the modified Mass schedule once I make some decisions on that.

Fr. Tyler Introduction
I have had some parishioners ask me to publish introductory biographies of our priests in these Pastor’s Notes, which is a great idea. [That introduction is included in the parish Pastor’s Notes, but seemed inappropriate to post in my personal website. -ed.]
