There is a famous prayer, written by the Cardinal Secretary of State in the early twentieth century, called the “Litany of Humility”. It asks God for the grace to desire that “Others may be loved more than I; that others may be esteemed more than I; that, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease; that others may be chosen and I set aside; that others may be praised and I unnoticed; that others may be preferred to me in everything; and that others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should.”
This is a very difficult prayer to pray honestly, but if we can bring ourselves to pray it, we will save ourselves from the jealously that consumed King Saul.

Hay una famosa oración, escrita por el Cardenal Secretario de Estado a principios del siglo veinte, llamada la “Letanías de la Humildad”.
