One Year of Partners Homily

As I was preparing my homily this last weekend, I knew that it was a message for the County, not just for Assumption. It is where my heart is as we mark one year of Partners in the Gospel and we prepare for what comes next. If you would like, you can read it at frmoore.com/homilies or you can listen to it at moorejesus.podbean.com.

The Archbishop provided his own one year reflection here: English | Spanish | Vietnamese.

St. Kateri Celebration

I cannot emphasize enough how much I would like a large county-wide showing at the St. Kateri celebration at St. Joachim this Monday (July 14th, Mass at 5:00 pm, potluck dinner afterwards).

Yes, this is our main county-wide event this month, so that alone is worth attending. And yes, St. Joachim is a Jubilee Year pilgrimage site (with a plenary indulgence), making it even more worth attending. But even more than that, I really, truly believe that the Lord chose the Lummi community on purpose to be the source of St. Kateri’s second miracle. I believe that there is something the Lord wants to do through St. Kateri in Whatcom County (and with Lummi specifically) and I hope the Catholics of our county can make that a central part of our spirituality.

A Further Mass Proposal

I have now published the latest revision of my Sunday Mass proposal. You can read the full post at https://www.whatcomcatholic.org/updates/2025/7/9/decision-83-sunday-mass-alternative-2.

The main questions posed by this iteration are: (1) are we okay with having a reduced priest rotation and (2) will Lummi be happier at 12:30 pm and, if so, how do we use their morning slot most strategically?

I have also been receiving questions about daily Masses and confessions. My original plan, back in March, was to address all of these together. Unfortunately, the Sunday question ended up being so complex, I decided we needed to treat them separately. Once weekends are resolved, you should expect similar analyses and feedback sessions on daily Masses and confessions.
