November 21, 2024 – Pastor’s Note

Mexico City

I have a lot of family and friends spread across the country, and it is hard to maintain my relationships with as many of them as I would like. So I have been trying to combine travel (something I greatly enjoy) with this relationship building, rather than ping-ponging to everyone’s houses in different states. Well, one of my cousins is headed to Mexico City over Thanksgiving week, and I have decided – on a lark – to follow him there. I will not be missing any weekends, but I’ll be gone that week. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday!

Smash and Grabs

Last weekend during the Sunday Mass in Ferndale, one of our parishioner’s car windows was smashed and a purse was grabbed from the back seat. It is terrible that something like this should happen at church, but unfortunately this is the world we live in. We are very thankful for the quick response of the Ferndale police department, though our lack of cameras at that church means we will likely not identify a perpetrator. Please remember to keep purses and bags in the trunk whenever possible.

One of the responsibilities of our Security Team is to check the parking lot periodically during Mass to catch prowlers, so this is another reminder that we need volunteers to head the Security Teams at each campus. So far we only have ministry heads at Sacred Heart and Assumption.
