October 06, 2023 – Pastor’s Note

Partners in the Gospel

I am very happy following the conclusion of our three English Input Sessions for Partners in the Gospel. They were well-presented and well-run (thank you to Pastoral Council and all of our volunteer facilitators and notetakers). We have heard from parishioners that they feel more confident, and even more optimistic, now that they understand better the process and timeline. We are all hopeful that this achieves its established goal of more dynamic parishes better equipped to preach the Gospel. I will be reading all the summary documents sometime this week and over the next few months the Pastoral Council will be working on a summary document.

If you would still like to provide input, you can use the online form in English, Spanish, or Vietnamese.

Fr. Albie at Some Masses this Weekend

My Hispanic Commission felt less prepared to present and lead the Partners in the Gospel session in Spanish, so that remains my responsibility this Sunday. I am usually so exhausted following three Masses each Sunday that I worry about having the energy to present, especially in a language that remains a struggle for me. As such, I have asked Fr. Albie – and he has graciously agreed – to cover our 8:00 am and 10:00 am Masses this weekend. You may still see me around (I’m not sick!) but having only one Mass to preside and preach at that weekend is really going to help mi hablando en español.

Projects in the Works

There are a few things we are working on in the office this month.

  • Gym Windows: While replacing our gym roof, we learned at the sealant around the gym windows on the south side of the gym has failed, requiring that we replace that series of windows along that wall of the gym.
  • Gym Walkway: We know that a portion of our gym walkway is still rotted out. We are still working through bids to replace the length of the walkway.
  • Annual Report: We want to make sure we get you a full accounting of parish finances from last fiscal year before we jump into the annual conversation about parish tithing.
