September 22, 2023 – Pastor’s Note

This weekend at the Masses, we will be making the long-awaited announcement about our proposed family for Partners in the Gospel. A few notes on this:

Draft
The families that are announced are draft families, meaning that this is the best configuration that the chancery, Presbyteral Council, and priests could come up with. But now we really need to hear from the people of the Archdiocese. Speaking as a member of two of those groups, I can tell you there is plenty of doubt about the decisions we have made, and hearing the thoughts of the communities affected will be really helpful in building our confidence that these are (or are not) the best decisions we can make under the circumstances. Your input really matters.

Input Sessions
Because your input matters so much, it is important that you plan to attend one of our Input Sessions. Remember: if you do not take the opportunity to give your input now, you cannot complain about the process or decisions later. We will be providing a selection of Jimmy John’s sandwiches, for those worried about food. Our listening sessions are:

Tue. Sept. 26, 6:15 p.m.  ||  Sat., Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m.  ||  Tue., Oct. 03, 6:15 p.m.  ||  Sun., Oct. 08, 2:15 p.m. (Spanish)

Laptops
We really need to make sure we have a critical mass of people with laptops at these input sessions, so that the input at each table can be recorded in real time. Even if you are unwilling to take the notes, could you maybe still bring the laptop, so that we can see if anyone else at the table is willing to take notes?
