December 09, 2022 – Pastor’s Note

Three brief practicalities this week:

Future Bulletins

With Christmas coming, the bulletins get a little weird. Because our staff takes the week between Christmas and New Year’s off, and because the Christmas bulletin will be visitor-focused, the next few weeks look like:

  • Dec. 16 – Last parishioner-focused bulletin
  • Dec. 23 – Visitor-focused bulletin
  • Dec. 30 – No bulletin
  • Jan. 06 – Back to normal

If you have any parishioner-focused material, please get it in now. If you have any visitor-focused material, please also get it in now.

Stafford Room

The Stafford Room was originally built as a boys’ locker room for our gym, has been used as a “winter chapel” for daily Mass, and most recently has served as something of a formal conference room. With few rooms that size on campus, however, the parish staff has recently concluded that we need that room to be more flexible, so we are removing any permanent fixtures and replacing them with folding tables. The chair situation is in flux (we do not want to use the heavy church chairs, but we also have no good place to store that many heavy church chairs). The parish office living room is being converted into a more formal conference room. The Knights of Columbus are helping us move furniture on Saturday.

Christmas Seating With Christmas Eve Mass schedule this year, there is no doubt that the 5:00 p.m. will be full-to-overflowing, meaning I am starting to think about Christmas seating again. I am considering having the masked/distanced section in the apse (the old altar/choir area) to open up those pews in the nave. There will also be distanced seating amongst the overflow area in the gym. If you use the masked/distanced section, please let me know if this could be acceptable, if only for one day.
