November 23, 2022 – Pastor’s Note

As Advent begins, we always have a lot of people ask us about the St. Joseph Missalettes containing the next year’s readings. First, I am thrilled that so many of our parishioners have a desire to go deeper into the Word of God and study the readings before, during, and after each Sunday Mass! There is so much grace in that. Second, though we will continue to provide the missalettes each year, I also want to encourage people to consider buying their own. It takes the responsibility off of the parish and also allows folks to customize their experience to what they want/need. To that end, some suggestions:

Perennial (never expires):

Annual, Quarterly, & Monthly:

Spanish:

I use the Midwest Theological Forum missalette, as it seems the most complete (I can actually say Mass out of it) and includes a good amount of Latin. Magnificat, Give us this Day, and The Word Among Us not only provide the readings, but also reflections on the readings and the saints throughout the month/quarter. Links go to Kaufer’s when possible, as it is important to support our closest (Seattle) Catholic goods store.
